Sanitising Woodchip

Good evening everyone,
I've just received a delivery of woodchip for my 4 feathered friends to dig in. It has a lots of creepy crawlys in it. I was considering spraying over it with virkon s whilst the chooks are sleeping
Does anyone know if this is safe?

I would be worried that it might be mites, so I would be reluctant to use them. You may want to research mites, and try to identify the insects to make sure they are not mites. I would not be so concerned with sanitizing them, but more concerned with insects invading my coop. If they are not mites, and harmless, you may use a permethrin/pyrethrins spray, or just let them dry out. Here is a good article about lice and mites with pictures:

Thank you, I've only just discovered your reply. I ended up with a horrific mite infestation
Do you know if vircon s kills mites?
