Just a suggestion for the top-

Home Depot has some pretty large canvas tarps that are backed with, well, with something that makes them waterproof-don't know what- but it might work well for covering the dish. Gromets would hold well in the canvas so it could be snuggly tied down.

Shame though, cause that's a great view out the 'screened' roof.

I had a party that I had to go to Saturday night and did not get home until Sunday afternoon. I will have to start back up today. I did walk around Lowe's looking for ideas.

If you want something that will last and stretch over the top. Go to a pond shop and get rubber pond liner. It is super tough and will last for years.
