Sarplaninac's??

one day...one day, i actually got to know some sarpies in yugoslavia (when it was still yugoslavia) amazing dogs,

one day id love to have either a paor of sarpies, a pair of central asians or one of each...

caucasians however are a completly different kettle of fish and id ONLY reccomend a CO to someone whos EXTREMLY experienced with VERY large typically VERY agressive dogs!
sarpies have a much more well rounded temperment!

Hi everyone ,

my name is Zoran and I also have Sharplaninatz and they are excellent with our chicken. They recognize rosters warning call and are quick to protect them from hawks or anything else. It is quite humores seeing them running around the yard with they heads up barking and trying to chase hawks away.

Hope to visit here soon...

My neighbor has a Sarplaninac beautiful dog, but very aggressive towards humans, other dogs, and anything that it is not familiar with. My neighbor says he is the best watch dog for his livestock including goats, chickens, ducks, and lambs. But his dog gets out of the fenced area once every few months and just comes running towards our place about 1/2 mile. It is very aggressive with our dogs, us, our livestock. We are always on the look out for it!!! I truly can't stand it. But it is a different dog when around its master. I am sure the dog was not given a good chance to be introduced to new people when a pup.

We are looking into a LGD dog more into the Maremmas, or Anatolian Shepard.

Hi,

It is quite unusual for a Shar to wander away from his property, why your neighbors dog does that I would not even want to speculate on ( 1/2 mile is quite a distance ), but it is a problem for all of you, for his owner because for the time he is away nobody is "doing his job" and I can understand your concern . It is correct that Shars , like most LGD's , act aggressive towards the unknown, so the point is to make sure that puppy has received enough socialization at an early age ( 4-8 weeks very important) with all the situations that it can encounter later in life. Also even if breeder did everything right, new owner needs to have enough experience in working , raising and guiding young dog so that desired habits are formed . I hope your neighbor solves the problem with his dog , it could be something simple and from what you wrote dog is responding to him and act completely different with him around.
good luck
