I have two problems with Hughes... first is the speed, and then the fact that if you go over bandwidth you are stuck in freezing-slow-mode for 24 hours. I have no choice but to have this company because of where I live. If you do call for help you get someone from overseas that you cannot understand!

As long as you get a good cellular signal you will get faster speeds with a cellular service. Cell service is bidirectinal up and down where as sattleit is one way so you have to go up and hten wait and have stuff come down. Much slower system.

If a company outsource to a foreign country, each call is listened to, and you can ask to speak to someone that uses English as a primary language.

Ask to speak to a supervisor, then ask the supervisor for an English speaking represtative. You may have to put up with some bull, but you can get one! If you're like me, the more they put me off, the madder I get, and by then, you can't pay me to hang up. And help them all if I have to listen to muzak while on hold!

We have Wild Blue as well, and while it seriously blows having to cut down from my precious cable, things could be a lot worse! I'd much rather have satellite over dial up any day, and I'm a huge user when it comes to files and such.. you just have to watch what you're doing is all. As for the weather, we mostly have it go out when it's really raining, but otherwise it works great for us!

Hughes Net here...much better that dial-up.

We have no contract, never did. Month to month bill. Small package,
30 something a month? (household bill, wife's department)

Work for us, we don't download much. Good service even in a storm
unless it's a major storm. We'll lose the tv first.

ATT highspeed just across the street, but not close enough for me. I've
even offered to pay for the wire.

But much better than dial up.
