So what is a coracoid bone?

When I lived in Friday Harbor (Washington State) we watched a group (now I understand why the right term is a murder of crows!) of crows drive an eagle into the water of a marsh next to where we were. A wet eagle can't fly, so we called the local rescue, who came and waded in, wrapped the bird up and took it home to dry/rehab. Eagles aren't the all powerful predators we think they are. Years later in an apartment complex, I saw crows murder an very large gull. Scary things happen out there!

Just an update. He is doing well, still in isolation. They believe that he will recover. Their theory on the nature of the injury is that it was probably an accident during courtship. It's likely. If you don't know what bald eagle courtship looks like - lookup eagle death spiral
