save me from old people

Well I told him the next time find out if any of his chickens had names and what was the oldest one he had. If you get a "no" and a "two".....run, run away! My chickens are pets and so are hers...and I do know that makes a very big difference.

I was all prepared to go on a rant about respecting old people. Now that I read this, not so much!

Some old people simply live in their own little world.

I agree there are a lot of ignorant old people. But there are just as many ignorant young ones that listen to poor advice as well.

Just had to share this bit of advice from an old person---my 91yr old FIL. Pop grew up on a dairy farm in GA...his family grew/produced ALL of what they needed.
He thinks my "silkie hobby" is pretty ridiculous...no Pop, we don't eat the chickens, they have black meat and very little of it......no Pop, we dont' eat the chickens eggs, we hatch them...

I do all of his shopping and picked up 2 watermelons.....1 for him, 1 for the Silkies

Pop~~you can't feed watermelon to chickens
Me~~why not Pop?
Pop~~it'll give em the sorehead
Me~~the sorehead? whats that? (I have been feeding watermelon to the Silkies for years)
Pop~~you don't know what the sorehead is? here I thought you knew everything bout chicken raisin'. You give em a melon....they get it on their head....the other chickens peck their head and give em' the sorehead....

Oh yes~~always follow an old persons advice

Oh my gosh...that is the best!!!! You see, he knows what he's talking about!!

gootziecat/deerman......Hmmm now I have to wonder...maybe it is the young husband...I suppose it is possible that there was a problem on the young husband's part after all.....hmmmmm.

It's not old people. Know-it-alls come in all ages, sexes, and ethnic groups. There is no use arguing with them, either. I think it was Truman who said people are not so much ignorant so much as they know so many things that just aren't so. As my grandma told me, you can't argue with an idiot.

It's been a long time since 97% of our population lived on the farm. We are so long removed from farm life it isn't funny. It's sad now when today's young kids can't name an animal or a vegetable/fruit. Our farm co-op hires former farmers so that's a plus.
