Save or toss?

It gets forgotten that chickens are essentially hot climate fowl. In the Indonesia jungle for example temperatures around 90F are normal. What the chickens have is shade.
It also gets forgotten that the eggs you buy in the store (I assume the same applies in the US have a sell by date on the box) Many of these eggs will be eight days old before the sell by date expires.

Eggs at the store are usually not very new, but they have been refrigerated, not at 90F.

True, but I've traveled all over the world, and most countries I've visited do not refrigerate eggs in stores or sell them in open air markets. In Vietnam, we would sell them weeks after gathering if they didn't sell right away - and it is HOT in Vietnam.

I've just made an omelet from eggs that are eight days old and have sat in a coop with outside temperatures in the 100's F; the eggs were fine.

You're more adventurous than I am. Altho I'm all for challenging our immune systems and don't wash an egg unless it's really poopy, I wouldn't eat eggs subjected to that heat over a prolonged period. Truth of the matter is I wouldn't even scramble those eggs up and give them to the dog.

Not worth it when more come every day.

Halfway house boys said "thanks, but no thanks". So looks like eggs will be composted.

BTW, I now remember......eggs are wet when the pop out of the bird, but quickly dry. That results in the "bloom" covering, which if left intact, protects them from most pathogens that would cause them to go bad. Bloom lasts until you wash them......and some say they would be good for weeks if not months....unrefrigerated.

So my guess is these eggs would be fine......but why take a chance? It is only 7 dozen.
