Very interesting on the cockerel going overboard on a non-submitting 'top hen'.
Friend has situation that this might be the answer to, thanks @Ridgerunner .

I think it comes down to which chicken do you like better, then get rid of the other.

You might be able to restructure the pecking order by keeping this particular hen out of the flock for an extended period. But do you want to have to live with the consequences? She would probably be subjected to challenges by another hen when returned, and it could be very stressful for her. It may or may not change the way she relates to Mr. Buff. It could affect her long term relationship with other flock members.

It's been my experience there are few advantages of interfering with the pecking order and too many long term consequences. But I know you want to hear all the options.
