Saved hummingbird from walmart and 2 turtles from the road

Good for all of you! I love to here about people helping animals (and worms, they have as much right to live as anything else). You can always tell someones a good person if they feel for a helpless little creature. Ive actually been criticized for helping animals. I stood out in the ghetto of Oakland, Ca at two in the morning ( there are like 10 shootings a more a day) to try and save a limping dog. Everyone told me I was a complete idiot, they didnt even care that I was trying to help the poor thing. Its like motherhood, I don't care if I am risking my saftey. I just don't think about it.

The hummingbird was probably in a state of torpor which is what they do when the temperature is too cold for them. Their body functions slow way down. Once it warmed up, it was able to resume its natural state. I've tried to save hummers before. It is very difficult to feed them the sugar water, because unless they can take it in on their own, you run the risk of drowning them, even with the tiniest droplets.

I thought the warmth of being in my hand helped the hummingbird. It was cool. When do you get the chance to hold a hummingbird?

Outlaw animal lover! Yes! Breakin the law breakin the law!

We had a friend who found a hummingbird stuck beak first into the screen of his sunroom. He pushed the tip of the beak until it was all the way out and it just sat there. He carried it to his hummingbird feeder where it glugged down for a good minute as it sat in his hand then it flew off. Very cool!
My DH tried to help a beaver across the road once. The beaver did NOT appreciate the help! LOL

That is so cool!! Once a friend and I tried to care for 6 baby birds that fell out of the nest, but they all died. I saved a turtle at Dollar General.
