Saving Money, What Have U Done Away With?

I did away with eating out and am trying to do all of my errands on the days when I work. That way on my days off, I can stay home. I work in the lawn and garden section of Wal~Mart and can definitely use the two days a week to de-stress. Besides, there are so many things to do at my house that I would never get bored !

Oh, and I rented an extra bedroom out to help with the housing expenses.

I now have to cure myself of impulse-buying of eggs to hatch

bowling and golf. Those darn golf balls are always 15-20$ and the green fees. We might start bowling again since the lane is only .3miles from home now(and another 1mile away) WE also dont buy any sodas we make tea or kool aid.

Hubby and I did away w/ tv, we just buy movies..Ebay is awesome LoL
We don't eat out anymore either, those things alone saved us quite a bit.
We can't get cable out here anyway, we've got sat. internet and any tv shows that we did watch we can go online and see.

I'll give up my beer if DH gives up his chewing tobacco. NOW that will be a challenge. Definitely the dish nerwork first.

that is just to funny! !!!
Hey, watch those "free" checking deals. They are offring Free, but they are ripping people off with there other "fees". And they are trying real hard to get them to.

I don't have much to give up. We don't get cable. Hubby is too frugal to get dish. He does the grocery shopping. We burn wood which is cheaper than oil. Most of our big appliances run on bottled gas. Dh is so tight he squeaks.

I suppose I have given up shopping to some degree. My cc is gone.

I miss that. I trade stuff and barter instead. Makes sense. I would like to give up coffee drinking. I drink 3 pots a day. I think I will give up one pot a day.

We haven't cut anything out yet but this week is the last payment on my new fridge. YIPPEE. We need a new T.V. and decided instead of buying a new one we would look around for a good used one. I am thinking about getting my internet service through centurytel/dish network and cutting off my land line but that will raise my bill by about $15.00 a month. Still though with the fridge paid off it will be cheaper. I'm getting a converter box for the T.V. today so I will drop my local channels with Dish network. That will at least drop my bill down some. We put in a wood burning heater so I'm not having to buy propane.

No more eating out, no unnessessary trips to town, no going anywhere without having to, eating more bread, pasta, rice and beans. No more steak or other expensive cuts of meat. Making more one pot meals such as stew, soup and chili that I can stretch for several meals. No going out to movies or other frivolities for entertainment. Using suave and V-05 shampoo now instead of the more expensive stuff. Turned thermestat down lower to conserve on power bill and am paying far more attention to lights being left on or other power hogging electric items. Buying cheap paper towels and toilet paper. Recycling much more.
