Saw a weird bump on my barred rocks back *bad quality pics taken with a blueberry* -=(((

My barred rock jimmie was preening herself earlier, and i saw a weird bump that she was "preening". It is on he back by her tail feathers. It looked weird, and it has a little tiny growth of feather growing out of it. I felt it, it wasnt so hard, still kind of fleshy feeling, but with a little resistance since there is a feather growing out of there. I took pictures, but they arent the greatest

do chickens have an oil gland on their back like ducks do? i cant see the pic but thats what it sounds like your describing .

That is an oil gland, which is normal.
