So, I have a bachelor flock of Swedish Black Hens (5 Roos) and a flock of Guineas that free roam. The guineas typically chase the Roos about when they get too close, but are pretty friendly with the free range hens. Imagine my surprise the other day when I discovered a secret love affair between one of my SBH Roos and a Guinea hen! Right out the in the open, with absolutely no shame, the two were getting to know each other on a very personal level. And it wasn’t to be the first time. I have witnessed these two having their clandestine meetings on a total of 3 occasions. I think I have 2 male and 5 female Guineas, so I guess one of the Guinea girls decided to broaden her horizons! I just found this so cute!

Guineas and chickens can successfully breed although successful breedings are normally between roosters and guinea hens rather than by guinea cocks and chicken hens due to the nature and speed of the sex act in guineas.

Offspring produced by guinea/chicken matings normally have short life spans and are infertile.

Very unusual chick, Guinea / chicken hybrid!!
