A really neat women in our neighborhood forum did a got way over 1000 signatures and as if 10 days ago tge city is setting it up for review. I'm just afraid all the baby Bantam Cochins will be gone and unavailable if it passes. I can't put my backyard coop up since some folks will turn me in even if there isn't one chickens in it. I gave to laff so hard when they wash duck poop off their driveways and complain about poop all over the park pathways. I have never been bothered by the clucking of chickens or watching a broody girl puff out in her box. It actually brings me peace. Our city says you can have hens but they must be 150 ft from residents. We all know city neighborhood's homes are not 150 ft apart. Our back yard is a garden masterpiece with herbs and organic vegetables in raised beds and netting. I don't like being accused of wanting "filthy chickens" "only 4 allowed"that stink up the neighborhood.
BTW, the woman did take pics if the ducks that the city never takes the time to cull. A lit of the ducks are barnyard breeds that don't fly and the hens get attacked through breeding season because the drake ration is abominable. 8:1. The city people have no idea what to do with these birds and people in the area bring in those rowdy Chinese geese that pinch the butts of every path walker. Don't get me wrong I love fowl, water and barnyard but if the city is going to ban my chicks then they need to take a look at what they allow folks to drop off at the huge parks in neighborhoods. Now the forum has people killing rat snakes since they can't tell the difference between a copperhead and one. I complained about killing any snakes and one lady told me if she wanted to see a snake she'd go to the zoo. BTW, this development was built on a huge creek area hundreds of acres with wildlife galore. I just have to laff over " no chicks".
Have a great day everyone and keep your fingers crossed for the city passing our petition.
