sawdust bedding

Hi fellow chicken fans,
I just brought my 3-month old pullets home last night and have already figured out that straw is not the best bedding. I have heard that sawdust or pine chips work well. I'm looking for a good source of either one in Portland, OR. I would appreciate any help.

ANY local feed store will have pine shavings. Horse people use them often
