Saxony ducks

I am looking into ordering a couple of ducks from Metzer farms, one of which is a saxony. Do you find that they are loud? I am in a neighborhood and need to seek more "quiet" breeds, but I am so attracted to the saxony that I was hoping to get one female!

So far they aren’t too loud . They make more quiet noises then loud quacks . Once they are mature and I can tell males from females I would be interested in getting rid of extras . I’m gonna get a pair from Herrolds in the fall to breed into the ones I keep

These two in my profile picture are Saxony Ducks. They are all grown up now, but haven't started laying yet! They're pretty friendly and make quiet quacks mostly but whenever one of their friends wander off they quack REALLY loudly to get it's attention.

I got my first Saxony from Holderreads at the end of April. I even got a dark phase one as an extra surprise with my order. They are 12 weeks old now and I'm loving them. Mine get really noisy in the morning until they get their daily treat of meal worms. Otherwise they are pretty calm.

Here are some pictures. The last ones are the most recent. They are going through their first juvenile molt. I'm excited to see how the males will change. (There are some WH in some shots too.)

I wasn't totally sure what I was getting, i volunteer on a farm and was given 28 eggs to incubate. Only 2 survived, one with extremely careful help. Much to my surprise, my drake turned out to be crested. They are so sweet, and very entertaining. They are at a threatened state, so incubating or breeding would beneficial to keeping the security of their breed. Absolutely, amazing ducks
