Wonderful talent with that camera!

It's amazing how the dynamics of our coop have drastically changed since Raven left. She just was not a good fit with the others. I always thought they would work out the pecking order, but she was picked on too much. She's now with other cochins who will accept her for who she is.

thanks!

HorseFeathers,

It's not all about the camera, although the Nikon I used for these has a high megapixel, so that helps. But it's the lighting that's key. If the subject is cooperative, that helps too. Chickens seem to do well because they kind of freeze when in a situation they're unsure of. You can see a little more about this on my blog at portlandpeeps.blogspot.com

I had my 11 year old daughter check out your blog. I think you two have a lot in common. Here's a link to hers:

I wish my hens would hold still when I try to take a photo. I swear they wait until I click and they run (of course they are probably laughing the whole time too). Your pics are gorgeous.

Mine rarely cooperate outside in their own territory where they feel comfortable. Bring them inside, place them under studio lights, they'll be paralyzed with fear, then you can take their picture.

Beautiful pictures. Now you have me imaging a rooster taking out his wallet to show other roosters what a good looking hen looks like.
