Hello there everyone! I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say "hello" and introduce myself. I'm from a semi-rural part of California on the Central Coast with lots of farms and ranches dominating the area. I grew up on a ranch myself where we raised beef cattle. Of course we had the usual assortment of cats and dogs and horses too. And then I finally brought home chickens. 
As a kid I liked chickens, I even showed a couple of them, but wasn't overly involved with them. As an adult working at a feed store where we sell chicks every spring, started raising chicks for my mom. I was finally able to raise some chicks for myself last year. I told myself I only needed 4. I ended up with 6. And now I have 13. Chickens are addictive! I currently have Ameracaunas, Blue Wyandotte, Golden Sexlink, Buff Orpington, Cuckoo Marans, and a Buckeye rooster.
