I just signed up for this group and am hoping to find a place to learn more about my little flock of teenage hens. They are still in the house, and as I type I hear the hammering from my husband building the coop in the back yard. In the meantime, amid the finest of dust, my girls and I are bonding.
We have not had chickens since the 1980's, and this time we again chose Buff Orpingtons. They are friendly, sweet, and beautiful, so what else could I want?
We live in a small crossroads in the country, in Kentucky, so not a problem at all having chicks. Our human children are grown, and we have doves and a finch in the house, a goldfish, and 2 English Mastiff dogs.
Fortunately, my husband is a great carpenter, but he also works full time, so the coop was not finished quite on schedule, but we're nothing if not flexible.
I'm looking forward to reading more!
