Due to my broody momma changing her mind (after buying fertile eggs), I hatched 8 chickens. 2 of them were SBEL and a cross between Opal Legbar and White Leghorn.

They will be 8 weeks on Wednesday and today Holly started doing the “crow”.

I have never had this breed and gave away the one with the dot in the head (thinking meant male)

Could someone please confirm a cockerel and tell me their personality. I have another Copper Maran cockerel that hatched as well. He does his own thing while Holly comes when she sees me and used to get on my shoulders.

I am torn in which one to keep as I have heard white cockerels are usually mean.

Thanks in advance

Color does not predict the temperament of the bird. Keep both as long as possible and select the least hen and human aggressive bird as the flock leader.

Thanks for responding.
I am correct that it is a cockerel right? I once had my eldest lady crow (hasn’t done it sense)

Pictures are not the best for gender ID, but with that much comb development at 8 weeks, it's a cockerel.

Yep, let’s hope Harley (just changed the name) is nice to my hubby🤞
