I would like to make Scalloped or Au Gratin potatoes for dinner tonight to go with the meatloaf I am making. Does anyone have a favorite recipe they could share? Thanks!!
Peel potatoes slice thin, but not to thin
2 table spoon butter, 2 table spoons flour
Melt butter in a pan do not burn.
Add flour and stir till smooth.
Then slowly add a cup of milk, stirring so it stays smooth, a little at a time. Don't scald the milk.
Then I add onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.
I then add a hand full of grated cheese like cheddar or Monterrey jack.
it should be thick like runny pancake batter!
Pour over potatoes that are in a greased or cooking sprayed casserole dish.
Bake at 350 for 45-60 min. (I put the lid on) or until the potatoes are tender.
I also add more cheese on top.
Feel free to add more milk it you see the sauce isn't enough to cover potatoes
I don't have exact measurements I make this from memory from my mom's recipe, but I added the cheese, makes it so much more yummier!
