Scaly leg mites or normal feathered feet?

Hi all,

I have a 6-7 month old Belgian d'Uccle and am wondering if her feet have scaly leg mites or if it's just foot feathers slightly raising the scales. It's my first time owning chickens, so I don't have an eye for these things. Also, her feet feather keep breaking at the top third part so there is no bleeding. Is this normal?

She is otherwise a healthy lovely, little lady.

@cynesthesia have you tried putting Vasoline on her feet after she goes to roost at night?
If her feet look better after doing this for a while you may have your answer.

It does look like scaly leg mites to me if you expand the pictures. I would soak her legs in warm soapy water, and loosen the scales gently with an old toothbrush. The, after drying her legs, rub on vaseline, castor oil, or other nontoxic oil twice a week.

I have a brahma and I occasionally put birdie balm on her feet to moisturize them. She has had scaly leg mites before and that's why I started this routine. Your lady's feet don't look terrible, but like @Ursuline Chick said put some Vaseline on them and see if you notice a difference
