Scaly leg mites?

I’m not sure if this is what’s going on or not. None of my other birds feet look like this. I haven’t dealt with a molt yet either so I’m not entirely sure what that looks like. Just curious if I’m dealing with scaly leg mites or if her feathers are falling out due to molting? She did have a droplet of blood coming from a hole where a feather used to be. Her feathers on her feet are not full looking, they look all broke off. I took her in about 2 weeks ago.

Yes. Looks like it to me. Dab some vaseline on it. Repeat for a number of weeks. Should suffocate the little suckers. (You can also dip in gasoline...not my favorite as who wants to work with gasoline). If you have Ivermectin, that will also treat it, but I save that for worse cases.

Do you just dose the Ivermectin orally by weight? Multiple days or just one dose?

By weight. Usually dose (1% Ivermectin solution which is 5mg/ml), then wait 14 days, dose again. Final dose (third) is given 14 days later. You can decide if you want to pull eggs. Generally recommended to avoid eating eggs for 14 days after last dose (Ivermectin can stay in system for 30 days but I've read research that says the concentration in the egg drastically reduces after day 7). Ivermectin is a human approved drug, and the amount you would be getting would be miniscule compared to human dose...but your decision on withdrawal. (I don't and never have problems).

My notes (from reading dosage recommendations) states about .45ml per 5lb bird...or .09ml per pound.
