Please let me know if i need to do anything differently. . We do want him to be well! Is it time to say this was not leg mites? Or is it still suspicious? I just dont know how mites could do this much damage in normal looking leg and 24 hours later i notice a bloody mess??? Thanks to all that helped.

I think it does look a little bit better!
He does not have scaly leg mites, they would not have caused this.
This is a severe case of SLM.->

This morning when i soaked i paid close attn to how it looked before soaking. It is not nearly as red before soaking plus the blow drying on lowest setting unless i go air only .. also contributes to it looking more angry than before treatment. I will get a pic to show what i mean then you let me know if what i am doing is still the right thing.
Thank you for your help and support as i try to do what is best for him! I will say that he is back to doing all his show off dances, struts, and running .. not acting like he is sore anymore. In the first few days he tried to do all his tricks but he was doing them with slower motion. It is back to normal in every way but the wounds themselves.
Have a blessed week!

Awesome!

About to post pics from last night. Have been happy with his progress until last couple days... some areS are very red again and one spot that is very hard to see being in his only feet feathers left there is a bump... doesnt seem to be an abcess.. it hasnt changed in days and is not warm to the touch and doesnt seem to be tender to him any... it is not HARD like an abcess .. nor squishy .. feels like a small mass ???? Really needing some thoughts on all this! Thank you!

Let me begin with a full pic... my boy always wants to be camera shy ... but i think you can possibly enlarge to see his feet/legs yesterday. He is not standing tall... he was begging for me to give him a treat in my hand and win i grabbed the phone he moved back and began giving me that NO NO NO look. Hahaha. He is going to be 8 mos old in a couple days and already weighs 11.5 lbs and just shy of 18 in tall as best we can get.. he wants to do the ""bobble head"" when trying to measure. Hahaha. Now... on to the pics of my concerns.

RIGHT LEG - looks much better than the other one. He had just soaked 20 minutes and been blow dried, so may look a little more red than before soak. This one has began putting these little quills out and it must hurt because he does NOT like me touching any part of it. Azygous on original post said 3 soaks a day for 3 days dried and sprayed with verimycin (sp) which i purchased next morning and started that treatment. After 3 days it didnt look near well, so i continued until 5 days. At that time i reduced soaks to twice daily. Spray in the morning and rock had suggested nustock so the evening soak would spray with verimycin when dry i would gently slather on nustock and put him on the roost for the night so it wouldnt rub off. Continued...

LEFT LEG. this is the side that had blood feathers. You can enlarge to see hopefully. This foot had begun to look dry in places and thinking it could be epsom salt i started putting spray on it and then triple antibiotic on the dry areas to put a greasy salve on it. One pic shows an area that has dryness... these pics taken after soak and dried.. no meds yet. The feathers really get in the way.
Both legs up the sides where there is no scales is still red but looks clean no areas.of infection... guess it will be red til scales grow back?

*** continued from previous post on treatments. ***
after 4 or 5 days with continued soaks twice daily...there were some places looking dry.. so i decreased the amount of epsom salt and went to 1 soak. After a few days i began doing a soak every other day unless it looked like it needed to be cleaned up. But still spraying twice a day and nustock in evenings every 3rd day. NOW!! Need to know what needs to be done... when do i need to consider this healed? Been using that it is still so red as the indicator it isnt healed yet???

This may be the best for the bump i referred to... there are 2 black feather spots and a dry patch ... maybe can see that there is a lump in that area as well.
