Thank God someone else was wondering about the color of the leg scales of red or blonde chickens. I was going to try and get a picture of my chickens legs and ask if the coloring was normal!!! LMAO Guess that's why it was so smart of me to join this group/site. With there being other first time owners, I usually can find an answer to what others might think is a Dumb Question!!! I know that most would agree that better to ask then to remain totally BLISS about the subject!!! LMAO Thanks everyone on this site. you all honestly have been a big help for me as I attempt to raise a small flock of laying hens for the first time as an adult!!!Are these normal legs????![]()
As a child, I did happen to survive with my brothers and sisters for 4 years on a HELL FARM that had chickens and I have a few memories about those chickens. I remember that the roosters were very mean so you had to keep your eye on them when you collected eggs, and the one time my little brother was made to go in and collect those eggs he got Pecked in the forehead so bad he had to go to the ER for a couple of stitches. And I will never unfortunately forget the chickens being slaughtered by a REAL MONSTER, who thought it was great fun to only chop half the chickens head off so it would run around until it hit the live electric fence! Now that was a horrible trauma. Isn't it Funny how when you grow up you never forget the REAL MONSTERS you may have met as a child!!! {This Monster is dead and in the ground at least 15 years, but having been witness as a child, to his cruelty toward chickens and other innocent defenseless animals. Well, honestly I don't think anyone shed a tear when he died from a lighting in the middle of the pasture of the farm he was working at!!! He never did have a soul light, so I know he was a REAL MONSTER!!! And so Nature removed him from the living world!!! Got to love nature, right!
WOW!!!! OK I'm done reminiscing. Hope everyone is doing well along with their flocks. And thanks for all the great information supplied on this site!!!
