Seeing as all Birds of Prey are protected by government law I would not advise advertising that you are participating in illegal activities.

I didn't read any advertisement of anything illegal. Illegal sounds like something harmful to me. Driving without a drivers license, not wearing a seat belt, not having current auto insurance.....these are not harmful to others, though some call them "illegal." Is the muffin who declared all birds of prey "protected" going to pay for the loss of your chickens? I didn't think so.

Sorry homie but its legal to kill them in protection of livestock. Check the laws. You can shoot and kill a bald eagle IF it is attacking livestock. Every ones been tagged and turned over to the sheriffs office.

Now capturing is a diff story. Capture a red tail hawk and keep it as a "pet" (terminology used is confinement) you're going to prison for a nickle.

Predation of livestock.

I guess we just do things differently in Alabama.

Let the rest of the world worry with netting, fencing, and all that fancy, schmancy stuff. IMO, CDs/DVDs belong in the house, not hanging in the yard to scare predators away. I have my hands full enough with mowing/weed-eating when work's going full-blast. Forget having a yard that looks like Sanford & Son!

We also let the goats and guineas handle the snakes, not repellent crap Lowe's tries to sell you on. Had to add that. That kid got under my skin this morning. Needed roundup for the fence line, laughed at the bag of brand x snake be gone crap to get lectured by some 18 year old kid workin at lowe's.... /endrant.exe Oh well lol.

Killing them is disturbing ecosystems as well as harming a endangered species.

Nope you can kill several other animals if they are attacking your fowl but birds of prey are still immune to this. It's clearly stated in Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. Sheriffs are rarely full aware of all the laws that apply to endangered species. If you contact your Local Fish and Game they will be more than willing to explain the laws regarding hawks to you.

I don't suppose a hawk killing a chicken is disturbing anything? And anyone who thinks hawks are endangered needs to wake up and smell the roses. They are no more endangered than the North American Bum.

Uh hate to burst your bubble man, but with 100's of chicken farms around here, fish and game doesn't say anything about shooting them. Fish and game is who advised to shoot and not capture, and advised me to the prison sentence for containment, also the same official is who directed us to take the hawks to the sheriffs office. Like chickortreat said, we do things different down here.
