Scared of pond

So petri and ducky have gone to live with my sister in law (only 20 min's away) as she has a great set up for ducks including a very large pond, the only problem is, my ducks have only ever been in small kiddie pools and are now terrified to go near the pond! I thought they'd be in ducky heaven ! *sigh*

That’s completely normal. My ducks were sure something was going to come out of the water and eat them. I threw them in and they ran back out. I kept throwing them in and they realized they weren’t going to die and loved it. They don’t like change.

My ducks didn’t get in their pond until I got in with them!! (Just up to my knees).

I wonder if ducks instinctively know that lurking under all that water maybe a predator?

Does your SIL have snapping turtles they can eat young ducklings and put a hurting on adults.
