scared of roaches

Wish my chickens would eat the cockroaches--they mostly ignore them. Scorpions they will eat; earthworms they will eat; BEES they will eat (YIKES!); cockroaches they mostly ignore.

I have had chickens for 2 years now and I have NO roaches. If there is one thing not welcome in my home it's a ROACH

but, if your worried, just put some Combat Gel through out your house. Combat Gel is the best thing on the market for roaches.

We have lots of huge roaches (palmetto bugs) as well as the regular small variety in FL. I have seen fewer rather than more since I got my chickens. I've never seen one in the coop. Your post just made me realize I have not even seen them in the outside cat bowl in a long time.

Now I can wait to "release" the little monsters in the brooder into the yard!

No roaches here in NE Ohio.Well atleast not in my home or the chicken shed. I have had flies on and off. And I do collect japanese beetles in a bowl of water to feed my hens.

If you had roaches I bet the hens would eat them. Only thing my hens did not eat is slugs.

Our property has a roach problem rivaled only by our mouse problem (which on the bright side does eat a lot of the roaches). The one place you'll NEVER see a roach or a mouse for that matter? Anywhere near the chicken enclosure! They glom them down in an instant. I'm half thinking I should just leave a few pieces of roach-or-mouse tantalizing food in the middle of the house and leave the chickens out one night.

A tad off subject but chickens are great exterminators. My uncle always said that the reason southern houses in the past did not have termites was because underneath the house was open and chickens roamed there. Termites are a problem here now.
