It is the time to turn the heat lamp off. 6 weeks old and doesn't need to be 70+ in the brooder. Temp are holding in the mid 70's at night. When the lights go out the chicks all huddle in the corner as if scared to death of the dark. Is this normal and will they get used to no light at night? John

They'll get used to the dark eventually. I felt bad for our chicks when we moved them outdoors last summer and got a 6' strand of tube lights from Lowe's that I colored red with a Sharpie so they'd have a night light. After a few weeks, they quit huddling together on the floor and started using the roosts.

Hope this helps!
