My chickens take more time on a daily basis than do my cats, but they are WAY easier, friendlier, and - to be honest - more fun!
I mean seriously, when was the last time you saw a cat go crazy over a worm?
The only mite problem I've had has been with my banty cochin. She's very little and her feathers on the legs and abdomen are constantly damp from dragging in the mud that's a winter mainstay here in the Pacific Northwest. None of my standards have had the problems with mites that the banty has had.
"Come into my web," said the spider to the fly. Go get chickens. And yes... build a bigger coop than you think you'll need. I said only 3 chickens. Then I got a 4th. Now I'm planning on numbers 5, 6 & 7 at the end of this month or in March.
