I agree with Jamie Dog Trainer and Penturner.
I really wish people would not say that raising a Pitt(or many other similarly tempered dogs) is exactly the same as raising a Golden Retriever. Yes there are bad Golden Retrievers and very nice Pitts but in general their temperments require a difference in the way they are raised.
People get into trouble when they don't realize what they are dealing with - and of course there are those people that are idiots and try to make their dogs tough(that's just stupidity).

This reminds me of our local tv station out of St. Louis that has their Pet of the Day segment, and sometimes the dogs are in their halloween costumes or some crazy hat, and the male announcer who does NOT believe in that stuff, always says "look at their faces, do they look LIKE they like being dressed up!"
