School Hatching Eggs!Help!

Here's what I would do. If it's not a very long distance from school to home, I'd wrap the incubator in a blanket so it doesn't lose any heat, carefully transport it home for the weekend so you can manually turn the duck eggs, then bring them back on Monday. If you don't feel that that's a possibility, maybe you can see if someone has an incubator you can borrow to use as a hatcher for the chicks. Or, you can just not turn the duck eggs for the weekend. Not ideal, and it may not work, but that might be your only option.

The Turner being on should not be an option. More than causing unhatched chicks problems, it can maim or kill hatched chicks.

You mentioned a metal thingy, are you referring to the heating element? Do you have calibrated thermometers and a hydrometer?

You got yourself in a real pickle here. If you open the bator to turn the duck eggs, you will lose vital humidity. I would hand turn the duck eggs as quickly as possible and only once a day for the lockdown days. Less turning is better for the humidity and 3 days of it won't hurt the ducks as much as frequent turning would hurt the bantams.

How far from home do you live? Hens get off of the nest for a period every day, so as long as the drive is a short one a cool down period should be fine.

30 to 40 min form school no one has an incubator actually and there is 16 duck eggs im very slow at turning

If its like my hovabator you can pop out turner trays one by one. I would take out the trays that have the chicken eggs and set them on the wire mesh. Leave in the trays that have the duck eggs in them to continue to turn.

Maybe that would work... but I would construction some sort of barrier to keep newly hatched chicks from stumbling into or under those running turners. You do not want them to be able to get around them.

ok here is an idea do you know anyone with a broody hen? Maybe pop the bantams under her till they hatch? then continue to use the bator for the duck eggs. The class will still be able to see the chicks once hatched and they will be able to see the Ducks hatch too provided its not over a weekend. What do you think?
