School Lunches for kids

I can relate somewhat. As a child I would always complain of a stomach ache at night. My mom would give me a glass of milk and a piece of bread and butter and send me to bed thinking I was just hungry and/or wanting to delay bedtime. By the time I was a teen they were no longer stomach aches they were doubled-over on the floor crying because of the sharp shooting pains. FINALLY at sixteen the dr tested me for food allergies. I am allergic to cow's milk and yeast. Milk, bread, butter. Great treatment for my allergies, MOM!

Go on flikr.com and search creative kid lunches. Some of those are amazing.

For a wrap try spreading pb on wrap drizzle with honey and oatmeal. place banana in middle and roll. "Chunky Monkey"

Does anyone know if it is safe to pack a hard boiled egg with the yolk removed? My son won't eat the yolk when it is HB so I am also asking if I mix the yolk with honey for a sandwich spread, would that be safe too? The lack of refrigeration is the issue.

Great ideas here for lunch!

Buy a thermos so that you can pack warm stuff like leftovers (spaghetti, homemade mac n cheese, soups, etc.) I even warm up pulled pork (or sloppy joes), put it in the thermos and send a bun. DD makes a pulled pork sandwich at school. She loves it!

Maestrosmomma-- I cook hard boiled eggs and take the yolk out for DD. I put them in small Glad or Ziploc containers. I would think they should be kept cool. I put in those plastic icees (kept in the freezer when not in the lunchbox) in her insulated lunch box and it keeps it nice and cool in there.

As mentioned before, my DD loves her thermos. She really likes any leftovers. Put warmed taco meat in there and send a tortilla and cheese/lettuce along or I buy frozen ravioli, cook them up, and toss with marinara. She loves the ravioli this way!

Sorry, but I can't find Lunch Box Meals anywhere on the HillbillyHousewife link. How can I find this info there. More help please, and thank you!

edit: thanks, I found it at the very bottom of a long search listing!
