Scissor beak survival?

I have a 12 day old EE with a pretty significant scissor beak, became apparent at 6 days. I would love input on people who have had one, what your survival time looked like, and when you decided to cull. She’s so far doing fine keeping up with the other chicks but who knows for how long.

I was at a 4-H fair a Long time ago and we had hatched a scissor beak chick. We did not have the time or resources to save it. My 9-year-old self was heartbroken when I heard it did not survive.


If it is getting along with the other chicks and is eating and drinking it should be ok however, keep a close eye on it. I’m not sure how it would develop later on with a scissor beak and unfortunately it would probably not survive however I don’t have much experience. The only scissor beak I saw lasted a few days. I have never had a chick like this, but I personally think it’s face is really cute!

I forgot to mention that the scissor beak I saw had it’s beak completely open like an open pair of scissors. It was really bad!

That’s what I’m worried about with this one. I’ve never dealt with it before, but it seems like it’s already pretty significant so I’m worried it will get much worse.

You need to get a deep enough dish that she can get her whole beak I. Their and she needs wet feed
