Does anyone have any experience with scissor beaks. My poor chickens peak is pretty bad, he was eating for a long time, but at this point I no longer believe he can. How can I help him? Is there anything I can do? I have become very fond of him and it is breaking my heart. He isn't as active as he use to be and he is just so small, only 17 weeks old.

You can trim his beak just as you would a dog's toenails. Also provide moistened feed in a deep dish to facilitate his eating. Such birds can be maintained, but they need constant care and observation.

Can you post a picture of the beak?
I agree that you could soak the feed and raise it up higher for him/her to scoop it out better.

IMG_7658.PNG Sorry for jumping into the middle of convo.. here is a pic of my bearded silkie, who's beak is a little crooked, what is the best angle to take to trim with causing any pain or cracking? Thanks!
