Looking Good! I like the look of your yard...

Work has progressed despite the lousy weather we've had in Pa. Once again, I am further along than what my pictures show. I can hardly wait to use this coop!

I was just wondering what the dimensions of your new coop will be... my DH is currently at work on ours (chicks are 4.5 weeks old + living in the bathtub + MIL is coming in a few weeks = RUSH!) and it looks almost exactly like yours... ours is 7.5' wide x 15' long or so and raised up like yours, but on round peelers in a hole with gravel around them. We need the clearance underneath so the hens can have some shade in the summertime... We will have a 3' deep end to use to store feed and such, but just a small "chicken jail" or two inside to separate out birds we are introducing to the flock or broody hens... We even have the front part framed in higher like yours since I want to do deep litter and wanted the doorsill up 12 inches... and I have a glass door I want to use, so we can't cut it down, LOL! We are using old redwood fence planks on the outside with the bad parts cut off- looks very rustic! Great work, Scoop!

My coop is 6 ft X 14 ft. Inside it's 6 ft high in the back and about 8 ft. up front I think. I got the roof on this past week

and I am so pumped to get the rest finished! (DH helped me with the rafters and OSB that we used for roof) I broke down and bought OSB because I know what a nightmare piecing all that sheathing down would have been. My boards are ALL different widths and thicknesses. And my hands are absolutely raw with splinters. I really didn't want to have to buy anything but sometimes your mental health is worth it! I had to buy 5 bundles of shingles at $25.00 a pop! Yikes!!! (we have some here but there wasn't enough) I got them nailed down in about a day and a half.
I used every single shingle. I hope to finish the back wall tomorrow and then start on the new run. I'll post when I'm done and take more pictures so you all can celebrate with me!

Hey, we got plenty of room here in rural Pa!

I finished the coop itself yesterday!!!!! Yahooooooooooo!!!!!! I made 2 pop doors, one for the rooster pad and one for the hen house. My poor hens have to get away from them abusive roosters! The pop doors are such a neat idea (I saw that on this website). My daughter painted that door blue. She did a great job and she's so excited, too. We put on an old brown door with a window on the other side, but I don't know if we'll paint it or what. Thanks for all the nice comments everyone, it sure helps to keep ya going!!

Now for the run...
