scratch and peck, non GMO organic Anyone use this ?

That's great! Glad they like it. Mine seemed to as well, but they are eating way more of the other feed now that we switched. Too funny, the differences in flocks. If I were you though, I wouldn't add grit to the food, I'd offer free choice in another container; they are smart and know how much they need, but if you put it in their food they have no choice but to eat it even if their bodies don't need as much as you give (even if it's very little, if that makes sense). The walls of my run are 1/2" hardware cloth so I just put grit in a bird feeder that hangs nicely on the side of the hdwr cloth and they love it. If it's two sided, you can also put oyster shell in one side and grit in the other when they're laying. HTH!
I hear what your saying, but my pullets and my 9 week chicks would not touch grit, have not ever touched it so I added grit to the food ( put a cup on a lid from bucket ) and they did take what they wanted of the grit, . my pullets are so weird, I purchased them at 12 weeks and they completely empty a dish of food onto the ground and never eat from the dish, what a mess even refusing to eat from the hanging feeder. and they never go near the grit dish, like its poison. so when I put the real food out I worried they would get imapacted so thats why I added the grit,.they took what they wanted and left some grit on the lid. then I added a lot of the scratch and peck to the feeder that was hung and they ate from it !! Im so glad, no more waste. they liked the food so much they were willing to eat with the feeder hanging which was never the case before, not even the chicks will eat from a hanging feeder, tonight they did for the first time. they were so skiddish, it was funny watching them and running around like " take the dish down so I can eat mama" !! my other hens ate it like mad also, at the feeder non stop. Im glad they took to this, now I can say my eggs are organic to LOL what goes in is organic, so what comes out must be to right? LOL

They are now selling this feed in Boise as well.  Don't know if that's much closer.

azure standard is now selling it in January. I'm so happy ! It will cost me less, and it's delivered to me ( about 12 blocks away. This food is the bomb, my chickens go nuts for it and since it's organic and the real deal instead of pressed pellets or crumble its more like nature intended. I plan to order at least 3 months at a time worth, as it's very cold here it will keep well I'm sure.

I just offered the Scratch n Peck feeds to both my big girls (and boy) as well as my chicks (starter) and they all went nuts. It was like they had never been offered food before! I tried mixing it with their Purina Layer pellets and somehow they ate all around the pellets.

There is a huge difference in the feeds even as soon as you open the bag. The SP feed smells fresh and food-like vs the Purina. I like that it's soy-free as well. The shipping costs more than the bag. I'm hoping a feed store in my vicinity will offer it at some point.

have you ever tried azure standard? It's a company that sells organic foods, and products. I delivers to your town and you go pick up items . We love it. And they will starting in January be selling this. Yep shipping is way high, and I can ot afford it, but if azure standard continues to sell it I'm buying it!

Karlamaria - I think you may have just given me an incredible option! I'd never heard of it but just signed up! Looks like they do deliveries to Arkansas and I'm happy to drive there! You said they will start to carry Scratch n Peck in 2013? They seem to have another good option as well, it's also no soy.
Wow, thank you for the tip!

I just had gotten there catalog and was going to throw it away when I took a gander and yep there it was, scratch and peck coming in January. I was floored. I can not believe it, im thrilled. How far will you have to drive to get it from them? Can you call and see if it c,EE's pretty close to your house? We love azure sandard, especially the grape shampoo, and the fresh butter .

Wait, they have fresh butter? I can't wait to get this catalog! We are lucky enough to have an Amish settlement close by and they make the best butter and milk I've ever had so in that regard I'm lucky. But this Azure Standard seems so great! I will be calling them this week to find out how far I would have to drive. Thank you again for the tip, it's not often one comes across something this worthwhile!

I happen to be the unlucky girl to live to far from fresh veggies and fruits, and from real butter and milk lol. yep when someone told me about azure standard and that I can get fresh organic fruits and veggies, and beans, all that stuff, and face hair and body, and of course fresh and frozen foods all put on a truck and brought to me I was floored. I spend about 200.00 a month, and it costs me about 8.00 shipping. not sure about the feed yet, but I will be calling them on this soon. Im just so happy to get a complete feed and not have to give my girls all that processed food. if you get onto there web site, you can see a lot of there specials, and what they have to offer. the catalog is better, but the site is awesome to.

I agree! And that feed is the best. The girls go through it so quickly and even though it's mixed with Purina Omega 3 Layer pellets they are finding a way to leave the pellets. I'd be fine with that if I weren't almost out of the good stuff. :) Thanks again for the tip, its a really great one!
