I saw that I wasn't the only person owned by a sun conure, so I figured I would post up some picspam of my crazy girl, Peaches! She is seven years old now, and is such a joy. In reality she isn't too terribly noisy, for a sun conure she is darn quiet. But when it is time to make noise, she does it with gusto!

Who needs parental controls when you have a nosy conure looking at everything?

I have definitely enjoyed looking at pictures of the sun conures other people have, hopefully you enjoy mine in return!

We used to raise exotics and conures were among them. I loved my birds so much. Our youngest daughter was very asthmatic and we had to sell the whole works. We had built an outdoor aviary (heated of course) but even so, there was enough dander on us to send her into an attack.

While Peaches did come from a breeder, there are many birds in rescues that are sweet as pie and needing good homes, their adoption costs are much, much lower than a breeder bird. If I ever get another bird, he or she will be a rescue. Sun conures are loud, but their close cousins the Greencheeks are much quieter. Of course, it depends on the bird, just like some roosters are noisy and some barely crow at all!

i LOVE sunnies...i think in terms of looks they have to be one of the most visually pretty of the conures...

the sunnies voice goes right through me though lol.
beautiful bird!

We tryed the whole adoption thing it would actually cost more to adopt then buy from our local pet shop.

Your experience is mine also. It seems that quite a few of these so called rescues are just rip off artists in sheep's clothing, but make you think that you are doing the animal a favor. The price tag offered was 2+ times what I would have to pay at a very nice pet shop. Then when they also insist of all of their own rules , regulations, and inspections ... well NO THANKS .

lol, becca...
i have a sever and while he has his loud moments...
most suns make even the largest macaws seem quiet lol
macaws are louder over all than the suns, but suns beat them out for frequency and pitch...
i can be around a screaming macaw and its loud but not too bad...
a screaming sun however makes my ears want to bleed
