Just popping in to say good evening to y'all!! It's hotter than the Seven Hubs Of H-E-Double Hockey Sticks here today! I swear! The seasons are running a month and a half behind schedule! It's just plain nuts, I tell ya!
Update on the house building project: The porch roof portion of both east and west porches is now complete!!
Denny put up nearly the entire west side fascia boards before he ran out of daylight. So, in very short order [hopefully
] we'll be installing gutters and downspouts. I do hope to get some good pictures tomorrow afternoon and will post them here if I manage to get around to it.
Kathy, good luck on these upcoming hatches! I can hardly wait to see the results of this round. Just out of curiosity, what do the black ones grow up to be? In other words, what should they look like? Will they have any colors other than black in them at maturity? I have six little basic black girls out of my big mutt hatching from last year. God only knows what the crosses were that produced them, but I'm guessing they are the result of Anderberg's BR roo over some of his RIR hens?
They all have these lovely red laced to black neck feathers. And they are by far my sweetest hens in the whole flock, overall. Mightn't your little blacks look a lot like that at maturity? Just curious.
Cyn, how is Ellie doing today? Sure hope you're seeing some signs of improvement with the cooler temperatures.
A closing footnote here: I noticed my little Ellie [Del pullet] eyeballing the nest boxes intently this afternoon. Could it, might it be? She's nearing POL?!?!
