Thanks, I will look at it this way, you aren't late, you just weren't in any hurry to make me older, or, you wanted to make my birthday last longer.

I am still trying to figure how I am going to gut out the camper that DH gave me to use as a chicken coop. I am not that handy or strong

Yeah well i am known well um NOT for my gracefullness - or my mister fix it stuff - so we shall see!

Upcoming news will reveal why i am expanding these coops and runs!

I am not graceful either. I stagger so much at times I have actually had someone ask if I have had a bit too much to drink.

I said no but if I had been drinking I would be walking straight

Are you getting more chickens?? Don't forget the someone is going to send you some BA eggs next spring

I have come to the conclusion, that what I really need in life, is a personal photographer! I miss capturing so many magical moments with my birds, simply because I don't have enough hands! SO! For Christmas, I want one personal photographer to follow me around for about a week, just taking pictures of me with my babies! Does that make me an egomaniac?

Don't know. Don't care! That's what I want!

Why? Because this morning I was privileged to have not one, but two of my sweet and special girls, want nothing more than to sit on my knee and be cuddled. At the same time!

Maggie and FussyButt, to be precise. And I'm sure that the three of us together would have made a wonderful picture.

What came next was even more magical [if such a thing is possible]. Long story short, within a few minutes of Maggie jumping up on my knee, next to FussyButt, whom I had already picked up to give her some cuddle time [she needs a lot of that since Brewenna passed last week.

Poor girl] along comes 'Milio. HE wants loving TOO! And then Tira, and Esther, Maddie, Ellie, GeeGee, Penny and CHIEF! And they ALL wanted love!

I'm part of the flock! Those are the moments I wish I could capture in pictures.

Knox, just stay away from power equipment and you should be fairly safe!

At least you haven't made a darn admirable effort to remove either your foot or your head with a chainsaw, such as a certain DH, who shall remain nameless, has nearly succeeded in doing over the years.

That man is gonna give me a stress heart attack yet!

Laura, if it were me, the only thing I think I would remove from that camper shell are things that can't take a little bit of water now and then. Of course, the cabinetry should probably come out so that you can arrange nest boxes, roosts and such. But as for removing any of the veneer sheeting on the walls or ceiling, you should just leave those there. It's likely insulated behind that and that's a wonderful thing! Your chickens are going to love having that for a coop come winter! Oh! And if it happens to have a propane wall heater of any kind in there, KEEP IT!! Just cordon it off with some chicken wire so they can't get to close to it and hurt themselves. Just use it on those nights where you're dipping way below the freezing mark, to avoid frost bitten combs and wattles.

My sister [the one I never speak to anymore] converted an old camper shell into a coop years ago. It turned out to be one of the best coops she ever had. The chickens all seemed to really enjoy how warm and snug it was in the winter. In the summer, lots of screened windows made for a nice cool coop! I almost wish I could convince Denny to let me turn the old 38 footer into a coop. But, it's worth too much money to do that to it.

So, we'll sell it next spring and then I'll put the proceeds towards building the dream greenhouse/coop combo!!

Indeed! I did see it Kathy! Congrats on being a finalist!

I voted for that one and your avatar one as well. I wish they had both made it, but ya gotta admit it: That's quite a feat to get even one into the final round! Out of literally THOUSANDS!?!

It boggles the mind! Just goes to show what a great, stand out picture that one is! Ya done good kid!
