Brandon so sorry about Jack Jr - i hate when they pass so suddenly like that - not that you want them sick but somtimes when you know why it makes it easier

And Lord LH - we have to get your luck turned around!!!!! I hope you and hubby are ok - we need to get you " cleansed" or something - walk around with a sage stick or something!

My friend found his dog! The warden picked hiim up walking two miles from his place down the road! So weird - Tristan is not one to run off but he is home - happy - unscathed and well. I think most missed my post on that - but thanks for the prayers on that one who did see it!

Knox, I DID miss that post, I am SO glad the dog is found and back home safe- I wonder what made him go off in the first place?

Brandon, I am so sorry about Jack Jr. Heavens, I lost my Luke that way too, just dead in the coop one morning, with no symptoms of anything the night before. And forgive me for forgetting, was he an Orp? Everyone is getting so many kinds of birds now I can't keep track of who has what and who is on first. Your chicks are adorable!

LH - Knox is right. We are all coming up for a land cleanse, a truck cleanse, and might as well have a special blessing for all living creatures, too. This is just NOT right, that these things are happening to you! Did you get the bath? How do you feel this morning?

Cyn, are you better today?

Kathy, I am only about 1/8 zombie today, got some sleep last night!!! How are you?

Laura, is it going to be warmer there next week, same as here? Amy should be the only one worrying about cold and snow at this point!

Brandon, I'm so sorry about Jack, Jr. The babies look wonderful, though.

Kathy, I'm no Silkie fan, as you know, but those look really great! Thanks for taking the pics for LH.

LH, hope you're not too terribly sore today.

I feel somewhat better today, but woke with a mild headache. I think it will take a few days to get back on top again. Have to go get feed today. We're completely out. Should go for the big grocery trip, but dang, I'm not up to it at all.

Nugget's baby is awesome! That little boy is the coolest little Dellie. He follows me and Tom around as much as he does Nugget, even at just 3 weeks old. Someone PM'd me already that they want him when she lets him go. Of course, I want him to show his colors more since Georgie's are often way too dark-I want him to be a good example of a Del before he goes to be new blood for someone else. At least he is not a dwarf and has the most perfect comb I've ever seen. Betting he'll have bright yellow legs, as orangey as they are right now, too. The Delaware personality cannot be beat, can it?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. No matter what happens I always feel like its my fault when something like this happens.

The 8 silkie babies and 1 Black Orp baby are doing great this morning. They're running around the brooder, lol.

Cyn glad to hear you are feeling better!!!

I have cleansed with white sage and let me tell you try smudging the Diva Do sometime if you want fun asking her to lift each foot so you can wave sage smoke under them and around her....NOT but she got it too! Everything was done before it came into the house and the house and property were done before the truck was unloaded...it is done yearly I think it is due again. It is a nasty cycle and it will end, soon, hopefully.

I am sore and have a headache but will be fine. Hector is crowing, Atlas is crowing and OE baby is trying to crow, Leo is crowing, Lancelot is crowing and ducks are running amuck after the cat got locked in the garage last night and apparently jumped on their crate freaking them out and the door came open....that was fun huh Brandon? hahahahaha

Cyn,

LadyHawk and Cyn, Hope you are both feeling better today than you did yesterday!

Brandon, I am so sorry about Jack, Jr. Darn it, I just hate when things like that happen.

Beth, I am still in recovery mode..... not there yet!

I will tell you a little about our trip to Crossroads.........

The 540 mile trip for me and B started at 5AM Thursday. Mapquest said it should take 9 hours.
lau.gif

First gas station we stopped at, Brittney left her cell phone in the bathroom. We discovered this nearly an hour later and went back and got it. About the same time, I discovered that the BCMarans and Wheaten Ameraucana I plucked off the roost at 4:30AM to take to a friend, turned out to be a BCMarans and an Easter Egger! (Stupid low wattage light bulb in the coop is to blame, ya know). I fretted over this the entire trip and time there. I even looked to purchase one there, and could not find one.

Next, we stopped at a breeder's home in Illinois, to pick up some birds to transport to Indiana, for a friend. Ever been in a minivan with over 30 chickens for many hours?

Yeah, it was an experience............

I can hardly see a map to read it (next time I will take my lighted head strap magnifier!), and Brittney can't even read a map! Oh, yes, it was an exciting trip............ both ways.

No bird purchases made. Unbelievable, I know. I will say though, I am very happy with my own flock. I can see that they are pretty darn good birds. I have never had anything to really compare them to before this. With that, I am happy. The ride home was .................. ummmm, should I just say......... LONG! We got lost, thanks to mapquest, and ended up going a different route home. About half way home, we got a phone call that Kayson (Brittney's 11 month old baby) was sick. They took him to the ER and he had ear infection AND pink eye. She cried the whole way, while we were lost. Oh my gosh, the trip home was a LONG one!

Happy to be home, tired or not!

Brandon, I'm so sorry about Jack Jr. Now, listen to me: IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!! Sometimes it simply happens. Perhaps the Great Spirit has a need of him.

I know what an awesome chicken dad you are sweetie.

IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!!!

Cyn, I'm happy to hear that your tests results are all to the good. I know what you mean about being wiped out by the process though. I swear, some of those technicians have a sadistic stripe in their personality make-up!
hmm.png
Hope you can get some rest and stay on top of that headache.

L!H!!!! What is with you woman?!?! I swear! If it weren't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all!

Yes, I'd say you're way past due for another cleansing!! Hope you can do that soon and that it will turn things around.

Knox, if I could read any faster, and had popped in last night, I definitely would have said prayers for Tristan! It matters not one whit to me what species is involved. Just the simple fact that it is a pet that is lost/hurt/sick/missing is sufficient to me. ALL animals are definitely worthy of prayer, as are the people who share their lives with them, along with their friends!

I was just happy to see that your friends friend had been returned to him, safe and sound, and none the worse for his adventures! I love a happy ending!!

OK, one quick little announcement, and then I really must get off of my butt and do my morning chicken chores!

PRIUS IS A MOMMY!!!
wee.gif
Just one chick. Sadly, that's all there will be out of the four eggs I gave her to sit on last month. It's a long story, but suffice it to say, its all my fault. I'll explain later. The important thing is that: A) Prius is a mommy! B) the chick appears to be healthy and happy and C) said chick looks more like a proper EE chick should look like at hatching!! Cute little puffy cheeks and a little beard already!
love.gif
I got a better peek at him/her this morning when s/he decided that the food dish in front of Mama Prius would be a good place to play for a little while!
gig.gif
Just the cutest dang thang!!!

Anyhow, pictures will be forthcoming just as soon as 1) I get some dang batteries for the camera

and 2) the baby cooperates and presents him/herself for a photo shoot. So far, s/he is a little on the shy side. But just as cute as a button!! I'm SOOOOO happy for Prius!!
wee.gif

OK, off to work I go! Y'all have a great day!
