That first one you've created for mine is absolutely PERFECT! Awesome job, Kathy!

I dunno...maybe call it Amy's Boys

Though "Amy's Rooster Refuge" has a kind of nice ring to it too.

Of course, we could just give credit where credit is due and have it read: "It's all LH's fault"!

After all, she started me down this path with her magnificent Thor

I'll leave it up to you Kathy. I'm worse than Laura here when it comes to making up my mind. I trust your good taste, creativity and judgment.

That Nugget is such a beautiful girl, Cyn.

And little Son of Ike is looking wonderful as well! Will he be walking in his daddy's footsteps eventually? He sure has a very keen eye, doesn't he? Looks like nothing escapes his notice!

Kathy, that is absolutely fantastic! I love it! Don't change a thing! Perfection has been achieved!

On a sad note, I think I'm loosing Little Tira. She was waiting for me at the pump house door well after sunset tonight. Right now I have her inside the pump house with food and water. She has not touched either.

Her wings are drooping way down and her body temperature seems to be on the low side. She just doesn't feel as warm as a hen should feel. It was cold outside, but not cold enough to hamper a fully feathered girl such as herself. I have no idea what is wrong. I've checked her crop, nope, mostly empty, as well as her abdomen, nope there too.

Everything feels right except her temperature and how she is holding her wings. Honestly, she looks more like a hen who is having a rough time on a hot August afternoon, than anything [minus the panting of course]. Any thoughts folks? I love this little girl to pieces. She is named after my bestest friend in the whole world and I hate like hell the thought of loosing her! She's not even two years old yet!

Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Amy gosh no idea...will she eat anything else like scrambled egg, meat, fish, yogurt, oatmeal? Yet to get water and baby vitamins down her with a syringe. How is her poo? When was she worked last if ever and with what wormer?

LH: Oh how I wish you were having one of your sleepless nights my friend. Not because I wish for you to have a sleepless night, but because if you were, I could call you and pick your brain and cry on your shoulder. But, alas. You slumber now.

No, she won't touch a thing. Just stands there with her eyes closed. You'd think she was sleeping except that she cocks her head this way and that as though she were intently listening to everything around her. She opens her eyes from time to time and they are clear and bright.

But I know my little friend. And I know she is not right at all. Something is terribly wrong.

She has expelled a clear fluid tonight, but that is it. No poop. No signs of a malformed egg. Tira has not laid anything resembling a normal egg in a long time. I've known that she has egg laying issues for several months but nothing that has stopped her from having a good and full life. Remember, she is my girl that frequently lays the shell-less egg. But, her abdomen is not swollen or tight, as one would expect if she were egg bound or suffering an infection [i.e. peritonitis].

For all other intents and purposes, she's the picture of health. Feathers are bright and full, as are her eyes. The only symptoms are the clear discharge earlier this evening, the lethargy, the droopy wings, and a body temperature that seems too low to me. Her comb and wattles are nice and bright red. I just don't get it! What is ailing her?

LH, if you or anyone else has a clue as to what might be wrong, please, please let me know! And maybe send up a little prayer for my sweet little friend. Every little bit helps, ya know?

Oh, and to top it all off......During evening roll call, I discovered that Mama GeeGee is missing. I've searched high and low with a high power flashlight and can't find so much as a feather of her. This is turning into the night from Hell! Where could that girl be?!? I sure hope she's just hiding and will show up in the morning.

Amy, there could be many things, even internal laying-she doesn't have to have a bloated abdomen for that. Many of mine just wasted away with no external signs other than cessation of laying and increasing weakness. Hard to say. Wish we could see inside them.

Hope GeeGee shows up today.

Gosh Amy, I really have no clue but the clear liquid does not sound good...get some food in her. If need be make it a soup mixture of ground food and yogurt, warm water and syringe it into her beak. Dang it I hope GeeGee shows up. I was up until about 2:00 but not online.

Cyn...how is Reba this morning?

My little d'Uccle is trying bless his heart. I am not sure if Hector really hurt him standing on him like a dinosaur if or something else is going on. He limps horrible when he tries to stand but is taking food and water on his own and from hand. *sigh* These feathered children can worry you sick at times.

Reba is panting with her wings out like she's hot, but of course, she can't be. We don't even have a fire in the woodstove right now. I think she may be in pain and her abdomen is puffy. We'll do a round of penicillin since, last time when she was squat walking, it seemed to help dissipate whatever fluid was in there and eventually, she expelled some gunk from her oviducts and began walking normally again.
