Literally has NOT stopped raining since Sunday morning here. My pasture is a soggy mess - my front yeard has standing water- and the chickens and goats are jsut stayign in the barn. The weatherman said this morning if this had been snow it would have been upwards of 30 inches!

Knox, same here. We are expecting "snow showers" this evening with ocassional moderate rain showers this afternoon. Grrrrrr my coop has got to have a complete clean out. It is so damp in there from them bringing in water on their feathers and feet and the moisture content in the air I hate it! Usually my complete to the floor boards clean out I just did a month ago would last through winter with daily scooping but oh no not in this junkie weather. Did not help having mama Mounds and the ducklings in the big coop either because they add so much moisture to their environment. But they are growing like little weeds pics later of them in their new digs.

Bright side Knox...we get mostly sunny tomorrow how about you? Should be about the same as us. YAY!

Um they are calling for all that and snow but i think it clears out FINALLY after mid day tomorrow - i hate it too. My house is a mess - dogs dragging mud and wet and nastiness all the time too!

Good morning everyone!

Home from work, chickens are out and fed. Water is partly frozen and I can't use the hose for a couple hours. I have been working too many hours the past few days. Happy I am off for 6 days now.

We are dipping into the 20s at night here all week, but the days get up around 45. No snow yet; knock on wood it stays away.

VistaPrint has some great deals thru midnight tonight (extended Cyber Monday one more day)! Make your own calendar (your own photos) for only $4. each AND even T-shirts (white only) for $4. each (with your own photo on it). To top that, I got a deal in email today that even includes free shipping! Can't beat that.

I have lots to do outside today. Need to add bedding to the pens and get the droppings boards scooped off.

Thank you all for your kind words for GeeGee and Tira!

Update: Tira laid an actual egg yesterday!!!

OK, so it broke the instant one of the other girls stepped on it getting into the nest box.... But she did it! She actually got the order of assembly right!!!

First time in about 6 months! I think I might give her a day or two of spa treatment more often!

Cyn, how is dear Reba? Any improvement? Is she comfortable? I hope she's doing better!

Weather here is, for a change, exactly as it should be. Chilly with overnight lows hanging in the mid 20's and daytime highs getting to just above freezing. But, the main thing is that it is DRY!!!

We have a slight chance of precipitation in one form or another through Wednesday morning, but I don't expect much out of it. A few drops/flakes per acre as we say around here.

And then we start to get genuinely cold!

I hear ya on the coop cleaning LH! I cleaned the main coop around the middle of this month and it should have lasted through to the first of the year at the very least. Thanks to chickens who decided to play puddle time out in the snow, I now need to clean it again this weekend!

Silly birds! Don't they know that costs money a-plenty every time I have to do that?!?!?!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Snowing here now. Reba was pitching a fit so DH took her out to the bantam coop to visit Sunny. As soon as her feet hit the ground and one of the little D'Anver roosters (Rusty, who is in lurve with her) approached her, she started the butt-whooping. She beat up every one of those four roosters in that coop, one by one! They were avoiding her after a few minutes, so we left her out there since she seemed to be doing just fine. Not much more we can do for her and if she has the energy to kick butt, then she'll be okay in the coop.

Ok not to complain in a non chicken way - but this cold weather and three days of non stop rain is killing my knee! I was on the equestrian team in college and a horse threw me - knee slamming ever so nicely into a fence - and when it is this wet and cold i can barely walk! grrrrrrrr:(

No snow here and it's in the 60's. It has rained but temps are in the 40's and 50's. Fine by me. I'm expecting chicks again but wonder if I should just hold off. Now if the PO could get them here on time that might be ok. It's not the temps I worry about , it's the darn rain on the East coast.

Ink - I feel your pain. Literally and a few more.

Take it easy and a few more pain pills.

I told DW I needed some horse liniment and she said can you use that on an old jack ass?

She's such a kidder.

Take care,

Rancher
