. Merry Xmas Reba, it was a pleasure and joy to meeting you again and feed you pancake while you ran around giving little Rufus and Shadow orders on his first free ranging experience. May your passing be peaceful beautiful one and greet all of my ladies and Precious Thor with a vibrant Reba "Hello". We will miss you here.
So sorry Cyn! All the losses are hard - but there are some that jsut tug at your heart strings a bit more. Jsut know that you gave her the honor and respect of giving a truly great life while she was here!
She was certainly revered around here. We used to call her Queen Reba. She was actually named for my own Aunt Reba, my dad's sister. Reba gave this family years of service and deserved every treat and every pet she received. At the end, she opened her mouth twice, shuddered a little, then laid her head down, very quietly, not even a wing flap.
R.I.P. Beautiful Girl Well she is surrounded by feathered friends and making new ones...I think she will like Thor and find him most handsome and worthy as a provider of heavenly treats.
I am thankful her passing was quiet and peaceful, what an amazing life for a hatchery girl. Almost 6 years old, that is due to her good caregivers and the love and attention she received. Cyn, you and Tom should be so proud and are so fortunate to have had her love and companionship for so long. I am glad she did not have to suffer through the cold winter which would have been hard on her.
my friend as I know you will miss her as will your DH especially, he gets so attached to certain girls and Reba was one of those.
She was saying goodbye...as when you and I were on the phone and she opened her eyes and stared into yours Cyn...she was saying her thanks yous and love yous and goodbye. What a wonderful girl she was.
She knew she was loved. They all do, really. Tom has a gift, a special rapport with these birds. It's amazing to watch and you've seen him with them out there with them on his shoulders, knees, arms and head, all at the same time. I think it really did him good to see, literally see, that there was nothing we could have done to save her, that it was completely out of our hands. He hates to do open them up, almost feels like he's desecrating their bodies, but they have taught us so much and in turn, I hope some of the things we have learned have helped others.
Tom does have a gift that they sense as do we humans....he is a peaceful, gentle and honest soul. He loves them and cares, they know it and feel it. He is also a big womanizer...I have seen those feathered women fight over him and his affections, seen them push their way to him and bite at other women vying for a spot on a knee. You truly are the "other woman" at that mountaintop getaway. And there are many in line before you. *snicker*
