Well I know folks think I'm daft, but I'm still for the men "marking" their territory. Seems to work for me. Not for the Hawks though, I'm afraid of heights.

Just talked with a kid who didn't know about BYC. What is this world coming to. I don't talk to to many people cuz you know how shy I am but when I do I ask them if they know about BYC and they sometimes say no. I think, how can you not know about BYC?

I think I'll finish my CL postings with a hint about BYC. Heck that's more prestigious than NPIP certified.

I lost one of my older EE girls today. She was one of my first chicks. A hawk got her.

Gabby went broody when she was a year old. I named her Gabby because when she was a brooder baby she always had something to talk about. This was the first time in the three years that I lost one to a hawk.

Oh, crap! I'm so sorry about Gabby! I know my time is coming one day. We've beaten the odds for over six years even in our predator rich area, but you can't beat them forever.

Isaac is having such a time with his breathing. His comb turned half black today. He just cannot handle the heat at all anymore and it was in the 80's today-crazy weather for March here, but he was following me down the driveway when I met a neighbor to give her some eggs and had the girls all over the place. I really need to add a couple of roosters for the main flock that he'll tolerate, just in case he doesn't make it through another summer.

Candled the 5 eggs under my Phoenix hen tonight. Removed her own plus Nugget's and Shadow's (had a detached aircell for some reason). She is left with only one of Carly's and one of Maretta's-Wednesday is Day 7. Carly's chicks seem to have issues-her eggs are hardly larger than a robin's egg. Hopefully, Maretta's egg will hatch. If not, I can give her a slightly older chick from the bator hatch, which is due on the 24th (which would only be Molly's Day 10)

Cyn,
I have got to get some pictures for you, of the Barred Rock chicks. OMG, there is one boy that is almost twice the size of all the others. I think he will be as big as a turkey. The size of his legs is ...... well, simply HUGE ! ! It is so dang muddy and yukky out, I don't wanna go out and get pictures. This is one from last week, though you can't really see anything here. Can you see the legs on the front guy?
