Nooooo- Cyn don't do it! You must be having heat stroke.

My wellie roo with the dark on his comb- it's totally gone! I'm going to check later in the afternoon, and see if it's something that shows up after being in the heat/sun all day. Strange!

Its so unusual hearing everyone else talking about heat. We finally broke our streak of 100's, and have been low 90's for the past several days, plus daily rains. Handling the heat is so tough on everyone, but I still think the winters are worse, on me anyway.

Your brain is only cooked because your heart is hurt. And with good reason. If you are ready to move on though I am sure all your Dels will find good homes. I would love some but I can't pick them up I live too far away.

Anyway we all want to live long happy lives and if LadyHawk finds out that someone else got Issac well, she might cut ours short!

I think the main one I'd miss would be big Ike. He is top notch as a flock rooster, though it makes me cringe when he mates Tiny. But, honestly, there may come a time when I am forced to let some more go, in addition to the ones who will pass away from internal laying. I even thought about selling little Holly, Fern's youngest daughter, who is 3 weeks old now and the 4 week old EE cockerel I really love, Chipper. I really, really do not even need one more bird. I feel tougher times coming for us. I am just bone tired, literally and figuratively.

Cyn, if peace of mind and sanity are at stake then we would all make sure that the ones you need to re-home get a good home. Then if and when you are ready again and want them back or their babies--they are yours.

Ain't that right folks? We love you Cynthia and appreciate you and ya gotta do what ya gotta do. We will support you.

Re: Spike...well his cimb was a little off color the day I got him but I attributed it to stress from riding all the way from TN to Northern KY for the swap. NellaBean brought them with her after I committed to buy them from her. So, I watched his comb and noticed it would darken, lighten etc etc which I attributed it to temperature changes. He spent his guarantine days in the basement w/AC.

You can see the slight off color on the blade here...this was taken the night I brought them home

nothing to really warn me that it was not stress etc.

He has eaten and drank well no problems but suddenly he was acting a bit off balance, fluffing up and etc. So, I called my personal avian vet in GA (

Cyn's husband puts up with my nutty calls). After talking it all out with Cyn, she enlightened me that while rare for a older bird to get cocci, there are birds suceptible to different strains. So, with the girls acting fine, I could only assume that I possibly had a different strain here than may been present in Nella's area. So, I put him on Corid and on the off chance he had worms (as he did feel a little lighter to me) I wormed him.

We are on Day 4 of the Corid and he is so so much better. He was walking normally on the floor last night, no balance issues, his comb looks almost normal and he was playing with me. I will get another pic of him this evening when he is out for playtime with me. I really think this boy's comb is a major like mood ring. LOL

Cyn - The kid...na she is an older model. I have no intentions of trading her in if she starts malfunctioning...I will just sell her and go on into being a crazy old grandma living in the sticks. DeDe is one of my biggest girls...her, Luna, Athena etc etc are my heavy weights. hehehehe

Germaine, it has a full finished basement and a one car garage which currently houses the ducks. The quarantine birds who are ready to go outside when they get a bit older, are in the basement in doggie crates. The silly cochin Hera sleeps in Cheyenne's room at night and stays in an outside playpen during the day. (long story there but she took Princess lessons from Cyn's little Shadow).

Scott, you and my husband...both shaving your heads. Bet you leave a mess in the bathroom for your wife to clean up too, huh? LOL

And I must advise every single one of you right now while you are still paying attention...so listen up!

RE: "Soooo, if I said I was selling all of my Delawares, including Isaac, would there be any takers?"

Ummmm NO...she cannot not do that. You see I already have dibs on Isaac and I do not want those mean ole women of his...so her GIRLS are for sale. Isaac is long ago sold. And before anyone says a word...I also have dibs on Suede and any of his remaining women.

So carry on with your sales and trades but ain't no body getting those boys unless they crawl over my dead carcass. And that goes for Zane too!

Edited to add: And Tiny and that crazy bald Gypsy and Alice. Okay carry on

LOL I tried to warn everyone off before you saw it! That is very interesting about Spike--good info to have and I am glad he is feeling better.

That picture of your house reminded me of my old one, but mine was a daylight basement. Stayed nice and cool in the summer.

Thank you Germaine...I saw that after I posted. LOL

I really was at a loss when I called Cyn...because I could not see or find anything....his poo was good, he was eating and drinking...he stopped crowing but I thought when I moved Lancelot in there who is much much bigger and he was crowing that Spike just decided to stay low you know. But this seems to be working. If he starts acting off again or does not bounce back to 100%, a vet visit may be in order. I do not want to lose the little guy, I really am attached to him already.
