I tell you, I really think they do better free ranging. Rex was full of pent-up energy-I couldn't let him run all the time, not with Ike here- and when he started ranging more at Scott's, he seemed to calm way down. They really loved him.

ETA: Dottie has been clucking again. Found her on a nest when I went to turn off fans just as dark was falling. Sheesh, I don't need another broody, dang it! Emily is on Day 19 now with her two, a Delaware and a DelaRock. Though Ellie's egg was dancing around like something on Soul Train, I have no idea if the DelaRock is going to hatch since I haven't been able to see in that egg since after Day 10. I hope there aren't two chicks in it. It seems too full and dark and has for days.

Kathy that is great. Do let me know how you like them...I think I am going to scent them heavier as everyone is saying they could be a bit stronger scented. I try to keep it nice but mild because not everyone likes a strong scent. But anywhoooo, enjoy them.

Tim...I dare to mention this ahem but back in 2005, my husband had a little blue pill for muscle spasms and our roomie had a little blue pill (viagra)...same size shape and almost exact color match. Well hubby accidentially took the roomie's pill left on the counter thinking I had laid his medication out for him before my bath. Let me just say two things....First Viagra is not to be taken by a healthy 31 year old male and Second there was about to be a divorce some 48 hours later. Now pills stay in the bottle until immediately prior to taking. hahahahaha

Athena is still doing good...day 4 approaching. Eggs are in lockdown and the first coch'anvers ever are about to hatch 2 of them. Place your orders for these designer beauties now. hahahahahaha

All of my roosters are good boys. Not overly friendly - but certainly no mean roosters here. I have too many boys to count, but I will not keep a mean one. I have small grandkids that go out and gather eggs and check on the goings-ons.

That rooster is not one from my stock, Tim. He is from the Stukel line that Cyn had. They are just starting to "shape up." You know - some of these heritage birds take forever to mature!

So it's Cyn's fault.

It's no matter. I have to keep him just the same and promised not to knock him on the head again. I know he's just protecting his girls. I can see why he would see me as a threat since the come running when I got out and follow me hoping for treats. He seemed ok this morning. I'll just have to keep an eye out for him. Thing is he waits for my back to be turned. They have more space than any of the others. I will say he hasn't came into the BM's area, even though there is only a small hedgerow to keep them apart.

I've got four broodies sitting on Del and EE eggs so have no place for BR's yet. I hope to wait til next spring. If anything happens to him I'll have to fire up the bator and hatch sooner.

I get e-mails for those pills all the time. DW keeps deleting them on me.

Evening all.....long time since I've checked in here. Work is a "4 letter word" and is simply crazy right now. Working harder than I have in my entire life, and for less $$.....go figure.

At any rate I am in a hotel room in Nashville TN and thought I would check in. Hope everyone is well. Kathy, Happy Birthday (btw - sent a gentleman your way today for BR eggs/chicks in the Spring). Other than work, life is great. Kiddos are back in school for about 2 weeks. Landon is a senior in HS this year and Colby is in 8th grade. Spending a LOT of time on college prep, tests, scholarship info, etc, etc.

Birds here are well. Pretty much down to raising only LF Columbian Rocks, but I do have a few "odd-balls" here and there. Probably have 70 +/- in total and need to pair down to less than 30 to over-winter. Several of Rex's kids that I hatched from Cyn's eggs....2 "black girls" that are CR daddy over BR mamas....and a small group of BLRWs that Jennifer and Colby wanted as they said that they were tired of "plain ole black and white chickens" and a few "experiments"

I hope this message finds all of you well....I will try to check back more frequently, have missed ya!

Take care
