Maybe she was trying to "tie the knot" with the rooster? or maybe she was trying to "tie one on"..

or maybe the rooster was trying to "string her along"

Well, the batting I bought at the yard sale was not an entire queen sized piece, dang it! It was put in the package like new, but someone had cut off some of the width so I had to buy batting. Won't make a dime when it's all said and done! Anyway, it's marked, sandwiched, pin-basted and ready to quilt now. The gold borders look orange, but they are just deep gold. Well, orangey-gold, I guess. I keep thinking of my HS years because the school colors were orange and blue.

Cynthia, That quilt is absolutely gorgeous! You did a wonderful job designing, and those colors are stunning!

The EE mama is now molting. She is looking thin. She is not giving up, and wants her babies to roost!

Kathy, I just love that last one especially!!

What a picture! Maybe I should name the two little girls Squish and Squat!!
gig.gif
I just hope and pray that mama is still very much attached to them by the time we get them up here. They're going to need her for awhile yet, I'm sure!

And so I sit here in the back country of Washington state, slowly going insane with frustration!!

Evie is still limping around because despite my best efforts, I've not been able to escape the farm here for so much as 5 minutes. WalMart is over 45 minutes away. You do the math.

I need to purchase "The List" in order to perform the surgery and I can't even get out of here to pick it all up.

We need more materials to finish the revisions on the chicken housing issues, and we can't seem to get more than 30 feet away from this place. Home Depot is over 25 miles away. Again, you do the math!

And it's all so freaking frustrating!

I want so badly to get the chicken stuff done NOW so Kathy can send me that precious trio of mama and her daughters. At the same time, I desperately need to get certain things done on the house as well. Winter is breathing down my neck and I have great fear and trepidation of what the next few weeks could bring.

If one is to believe the National Weather Service bulletins, we have a La Nina pattern brewing in the Pacific that harbors nothing but ill will to the entire line of western states from Canada to Mexico, and that this winter will be every bit as bad, maybe even worse, as the 2008-2009 winter, in which we were buried under 6+ feet of snow just for the month of December alone!

If anyone has a little bit of positive energy they could spare, or a goodwill thought they'd like to send my way, I sure would appreciate it. Yes indeed I would! Very much!

On the plus side, we're one day closer to having a fully functioning guest bathroom!

I finished the tile floor in there today. Just have to apply the sealant to the grout in a couple of days! Then it remains to install the toilet, sink and vanity, and I will still need to tile the shower . Oh, and a door. Yes, a door would be nice!

ETA: Cyn, that quilt is just eye popping! Talk about total eye candy there!

And if the person who commissioned that isn't happy with it, then shame on them! They have no taste and no sense! Who is this work of art for anyhow? Inquiring minds would love to know!

Amy,
Those chicks were totally under the mama before I disturbed them for the picture. I picked them up and put all 3 of them in the nest they had been sleeping in. I don't know if they stayed of not. The poor molting thing. Gez, it's a good thing she doesn't have to breast feed, too .... imagine that would just take everything from her!

Look at mama's poor molting sister. She looks worse each day. Poor pretty little thing.

Poor little Evie. I hope she gets all fixed up soon.

I know you are terribly busy. I feel for ya! Wish I could help you out. It sounds like you are making progress. That is always a good feeling. Take care of yourself and don't overdo, now!

Sounds like winter is gonna be a bad one, huh? I am soooo glad we moved south. Only 300 miles, but it sure makes a difference.

I have at least one hen who looks like a rag, Kathy. Nelda blew most of her feathers all at once, poor thing. Charlotte's are coming in pretty well and most others seem to be on the upswing, but not my poor Speckled Sussex sweetie.

Morning all

Cyn....that quilt is sooooo pretty!! I think the colors alone would make for a cheerful morning EVERY DAY

Got to vent for just a sec....USPS is just horrible! I sent Kathy 2 BR pullets yesterday (finally huh Kathy??). They were shipped "Express Mail" which includes tracking/delivery info. Shortly after I got home, I looked up the tracking number and is says "accepted at Cartersville PO, 11:06am" or something to that effect. As of 935am today, NOTHING has changed! I guess thats just another fine example of government agencies at work....oh well. Kathy, I hope they arrive as promised today and all ok.

Beautiful day here...supposed to be around 78 for a high. Gotta go let the chooks out....

Y'all have a great day!
