For that same reason [IMHO at least] Denny had to have all of his teeth pulled and dentures made a few years after he got through all of his chemotherapy to fight Hodgkin's Disease. It did something to the integrity of his tooth enamel and they just steadily declined after that. Took about ten years for it to get to the point of having to pull what was left, but it was the best decision he ever made. No more tooth pain.....EVER!!

If you have the dental insurance to cover it LH, I highly recommend going the full route. You'll be healthier for it and never have to face that kind of pain ever again.

Take it easy on those narcotics sweetie. They're a bee with an itch, if ya know what I mean.

Crazy day today, and I'm still trying to wind down from it all. Started at 5:00 AM with preparations to get Annie to her SAT's in Spokane on time. I can't just roll out of bed and go someplace! Oh heavens, NO! I need minimum of an hour to myself just to wake up!
lol.png
And then there's the boys and the Pump House Princesses to deal with! They all had to go through their usual morning set up in the DARK! I don't think they were all that amused by the events, and let me know in it in so many words of little chicken curses uttered under their breath!
gig.gif
So, since we had to leave out of the house by no later than 6:30 AM to get her to her test location in time, that meant I had to rise and shine by 5:00.

After dropping her off to her SAT's, DH and I went to our favorite store, The Home Depot for some much needed building materials for both the house and the chickens. I'll be able to put the finishing touches on the boy's new quarters this week. Not a moment too soon either! Opening day of deer hunting season is this coming Saturday!
wee.gif
We just gotta get their covered run and coop done. I don't think I could handle having to go out every morning that early to tend to them. And, like I said, they weren't the least bit pleased at being awakened so early either! Poor babies! It was pitch black out there.

We ultimately had to stop at three different places just to get the pieces of tile that I need for the guest bathroom shower. I almost wonder if I would have been better off just trying to find them online. But, what I got will work perfectly in the tiled shower, and this way I don't have to wait for it.

On the way home from HD, we stopped and picked up three [18 ct] cases of Coors Banquet for a gentleman rancher we know out here. The three cases of beer are payment for the privilege of hunting his private range lands!
celebrate.gif
This guy has over 8,500 acres spread out over two counties out here. One of the bigger spreads to be sure. And it's all prime Elk and Deer habitat. I can't even begin to tell y'all how many times we've seen both on his place. And this year we have written permission to hunt it!!
wee.gif
The owner told us tonight when we dropped off the beer that we're only two of a total of about 35 hunters all told, for the entire autumn hunting season who have been granted access. Not everyone is hunting with the same weapon, so not everyone is going to be out there at the same time. Some are hunting the Archery season, some Black Powder, and we will be hunting Modern Firearm. All three are different seasons with different calendar dates. Therefore, we should be able to hunt all day, every day of our season, and never encounter another soul!!

I can hardly wait for opening day!! The hardest part is going to be to decide where to hunt first!

Needless to say, I never got the chance to call my next door neighbor, Robin, to see if she can come over and give me a hand with Evie

Evie's still hanging in there like the little trooper that she is, but I can tell that it's getting worse by the day. I've got to get it out tomorrow or I shall subject myself to 60 lashes! Shame on me! I'm a terrible chicken mama to let her suffer like this!

If push comes to shove, I'll wrap her up in a t-shirt and strap her down to the table with duct tape and just do it myself!
barnie.gif
I just hope it doesn't come to that. I don't want to traumatize Evie any more than necessary. Great garden o' peas [as Tim would say] I'd give my eyeteeth for some kind of sedative for her.

OK, it's well past midnight, and I have to get up at 5:00 again tomorrow, trying to get myself used to this early to rise crap for hunting season. May you all have sweet dreams tonight and have a wonderful day tomorrow. Gee, with such an early start tomorrow, I should really be able to get stuff done!

I wish I had dental insurance Amy...as for the narcotics/pain killers/anything I HATE taking anything. I did not even get the script filled until late Saturday...I rarely take anything, including after surgery. I hate the way it makes me feel but my jawbone was throbbing so bad it was making my cheek and eye hurt so I broke down and took 1/2 of one of the things. Now I am finally going to bed.

PS: Take down the Elk first and get it in the freezer...then you can see how much room for deer you will have....I prefer eating elk or buffalo any day over deer.
thumbsup.gif
Although I have a young buck here in our yard herd that I have to take out. He has poor antlers and a deformity on one side of the rack....so he needs to go so those genetics end with him because he will be breeding next season for sure. He will hit the freezer soon. Oh and get some guts woman....get a traditional bow and hunt the critters....ya'll with those high power rifles hiding in blinds and such pfffffftttt that is not hunting...get on the ground with em and make it fair. *snicker* I tell DH the same thing every year....HUNT LIKE A MAN not a mouse.

L.H., my dentist was awesome reccomended by a friend.Paris had lots of rabbits, very few large fowl, couple Guiennas,sp?, a beautiful pair of African Geese, and some pigeons. I was hunting for GLCs, I did see a few Partridge Cochins but they were bantams. SO it just wasnt real exciting for me. I also saw two men get into over some rabbits was quite comical. I did get my first green egg from my EE hen today, very exciting!! Shes about 24 weeks. Myrtle is doing Great heres another pic. I'm falling so in love with her!

Just spent about 45 minutes looking for Nelda. For those who don't know, she's my only Speckled Sussex. Everyone was in, no sounds of rustling leaves, no little Olive Oyl voice, nada. Dh and I tramped from one end of the place to the other. Finally, he went outside the fence and down one of the little perimeter roads. No Nelda. Was beginning to worry that dark would fall before we found her.

On his way back and around to the driveway gate, in the corner of the fenced area closest to the road I live on, he spied her, on the ground hiding, not making one sound. She was farther than any of my chickens has ever gone, at least since my Ginger, lovingly dubbed "Nora the Explorer" was in her wandering prime. No idea why she was hiding. Poor thing is a mess of quills and fuzz and hanging feathers right now. So she clucked and dodged and weaved all the way home, silly hen. Now, I'm bushed!

No idea, Kathy. There were no actual alarms from the roosters the entire afternoon. DH was using the tiller in the garden and some of the flock went to the other side of the Firetower coop because they hate that loud engine, but she was a couple hundred feet further than that, as far as she could go without leaving the perimeter fence. Everyone came back to the sound of the scratch can except Nelda. Could have seen a hawk or something, I guess.

I put one of my Dels, Maxie, in the hospital cage. She's molting heavily, has lost lots of weight and her color is purplish. She seems very tired. Gave her a bowl of mackerel and yogurt and she has 22% pellets in there. At least, she won't have to avoid Isaac. A couple others are in hard molt, too, but they are energetic. She seems just off, poor girl.
