Your "ghetto coop" looks good to me. Lotsa room - you just might need to get more chickens.

I mean you can't waste the space right???

wasting is wrong

Sort of. I drew up really basic diagrams trying to figure out the cost. This one is for the cage that has the white leghorn hen in it.

I guess i could give you basic dimensions i used?

1/2" hardware cloth for the bottom
1"x1" rabbit wire for the sides. I used 24"
The 'double' cage is a 2' square on the bottom and is 16" tall.

Therefore you need

1 piece of hardware cloth - 24"x24" (for the bottom)
5 pieces of 1"x1" wire - 24"x16" (for the 4 sides and 1 divider)
1 piece of 1x1 wire - 24"x24" (for the top)

Use jclips to attach it all together I usually start by attaching the walls to the bottom. Then i attach the walls together. Then i attach the divider. Then I attach the top.

Then decide where you want the doors to go and how big. Cut them out. Then you need to cut doors that are 2 inches wider and taller than your door openings, so there is overlap.

They sell the "plastic cap" at poultry places....OR, you can do like me and go to the garden section at big box stores....the aisle with the landscape edging....they sell this rubbery cap stuff that is meant to be put on metal edging. Wha-la, same thing but cheaper.

I use clips for fasteners but they also sell the actual door fasteners. I bought some for next time.
