I know, I know! But... I guess being still new at all this, I'm learning and trying to understand as much as possible.

I feel your pain. Back when I first started incubating, i would candle like EVERY DAY. And obsess. And freak out. and post insane questions on this board. Now, I just don't have time for that. My mechanical incubaors are packed away and my feathered incubators do all the hard work for me. I just check on the eggs every now and then to make sure they are still there LOL. Or to remind myself what date they are due (I write the date I set them on the eggs).

Interesting thing I just realized.....my barred cochin broodies are very aggressive hens when they have eggs/chicks. And this new big rir/cochin broody that is pretty darn protective and wants to tear my hand to pieces? She is one fo the cochin's daughters......I forgot about that. So right now, I have a mother and daughter, both broody at the same time. Guess it really is hereditary. Both broodiness and angriness LOL. They're both nice hens when not broody.

LOTS of cute baby pix on the way.......here are a couple while the others upload.

Angry broody.

Ever gotten too close on a broody's first day taking her chicks "out"? She would throw her wings out and come towards me. Made her look like a darn turkey tom.....

And yes, the walls of that brooder are disgusting. I had gotten it empty and ready for a fall cleaning.....but then I had to use it before i had a chance to clean it. Maybe after this batch!

There are few things cuter than a mama showing her babies the food.

And LH's girls' chicks....

And of course, the peanut gallery in the top brooder (above the rir/cochin batch). As soon as i open the doors they all perch on the edge and drop shavings on my head, watch everything that happens down below, and every now and then make a kamikaze suicide attempt by jumping into the bottom brooder with the rir/cochin mama (haaaaaaaaa, bad idea)

Okay... have to vent for a minute... angry of the egg wait from a leghorn.

Okay, her name is Amelia, and she's a naughty little thang. She's now 7 1/2 months old, and she's a white leghorn. She's had an extremely red face for 3 months, and I always think she's singing the egg song, but NO, she's just being a typical leghorn beating up on the others. I don't like leghorns... I really don't. I mean, I have to like this one because she's MINE, but to be honest, I would trade her for any other chicken

. She's mean. bossy, pecky, and water-tipping-over-y. Arrg. I mean, couldn't she at LEAST pay me with some leghorn eggs? I'm just worried about her not laying until Spring with it already getting pretty cold here... eek. I just wanna eat her! And I don't say that often, I'm a vegetarian.

Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, I love her and all but... don't think I'm gonna have her for that long. I think that after she starts laying I'm going to give her to my friend. She's still... just.... mean. But what can I expect of a leghorn? Thought she was a white rock when I first got her (feed store didn't know).

So... anyone else angry with some chickens? Lol.

Hey Cynthia, did you get all the rain that came through Atlanta up there? Went up to feed my chickens today, and they were soaking wet.
